I'm a mom, a partner, an Instructional Designer, and a gun violence survivor. I wrote this song after the shooting at Umpqua Community College. At the time I was so scared, I published it under another name. Through my work with Moms Demand Action, I have learned that gun violence disproportionately affects communities of color and people who are more vulnerable than me on a daily basis. That's why I need to leave the fear behind. Think of how many lives we could save every year, not just in a pandemic, with common sense gun laws...
