entry 014: The Collection

The Collection is an evolving virtual platform featuring creative work that centers and uplifts the voices of gun violence survivors, people with spinal cord injuries and other disabilities and their allies. The Collection is an inclusive and expansive platform, committed to creating conversations and brave spaces for the nurturing of enduring transformation, with a deep belief in the healing power of telling your own story through art.

This past year we’ve endured a time of immense adversity, grief, economic hardship and the emotional and psychological toll of isolation. It has been especially hard for people who endured a year of lockdown in nursing homes and other long-term care facilities which account for over one third of Covid deaths. It has also been a year of great resilience where we’ve found creative ways to remain connected. The Collection Vol. 2 offers, if not always satisfying answers, reflections and contemplations. It gives voice to our anxieties, yearnings, griefs and grievances, our lost hopes and dreams, and the new ones that have sprouted in their place.
